Message It's the cross sectional area (height x thickness) determines the flow rate.

If you have 3x6x6 and 3x6x24 cores at same pressure, they will flow the same amount of CFM. Of course, the longer core (3x6x24) will cool the air more because there's more material for heat exchange and will also have more pressure drop.
